Billy Stewart signs long-term NOLA extension

Billy Stewart is the latest player to commit his long-term future to the NOLA Gold. The 26-year-old lock has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him stay at The Gold Mine until at least the end of the 2023 Major League Rugby season.

The Rhode Island native has been with the team since the 2018 season, when he made just two appearances as a replacement. He enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019 with six starts and a dozen games played. This past season Stewart appeared in all five games, starting three.

Stewart is the 10th senior player to sign an extension since the 2020 campaign’s premature ending in March. Also locked in through 2023 are prop trio Matt Harmon, Kevin Sullivan, and Dino Waldren, flanker Moni Tonga’uiha, and versatile back Nick Feakes. Signing through the 2022 season were second row Ignacio Dotti, back row Malcolm May, and Eagles international backs Tim Maupin and JP Eloff.
