Player movement continues with Zebre Parma bringing in Tobías Wade from Argentina. According to ESPN Argentina the deal is for one season with the option of a one-year extension. It comes immediately after Wade trained with Felipe Contepomi’s roster for home internationals against South Africa and Australia.
Zebre Parma is one of two elite level professional rugby teams in Italy. The team competes in the United Rugby Championship (URC). It has been a highly productive team for the Azzurri and a number of Argentines have featured including contemporary Pumas Gonzalo García and Gerónimo Prisciantelli.
Wade arrives in time to press for game-time with the club and be in consideration for his test debut in the upcoming November Internationals. Argentina’s matches against Ireland, Italy and France will see the very best Argentine players all together on one roster for the first time this year.
Zebre Parma will be Wade’s first professional contract abroad. He makes the move to Europe from the Alumni club in Buenos Aires. He does so after having impressed for Los Pampas in Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026 wherein he was a champion in his rookie SRA campaign.
Wade joined Los Pampas after deciding to return to rugby XV from Los Pumas 7’s. His time playing Sevens for Argentina included SVNS titles in Vancouver 2022, Hamilton 2023, Vancouver 2023, London 2023, Cape Town 2023, Perth 2024, Vancouver 2024, Perth 2025, Vancouver 2025, and Hong Kong 2025.
Wade competing in the URC adds a new layer to Argentina’s fullback picture. He joins the English Premiership players Benjamín Elizalde (Newcastle Red Bulls) and Santiago Carreras (Bath) as well as the French Top 14 players Juan Cruz Mallía (Toulouse) and Gerónimo Prisciantelli (Racing 92).
Mateo Soler is also in the picture. He debuted for Los Pumas earlier this month as a replacement against Australia in Mendoza. Soler plays for Dogos in SRA.
