Juan Martín Scelzo has extended his stay in Paris. The rookie Puma has signed a new contract with Stade Français until 2029. Scelzo made his professional Top 14 debut for Stade Français in November 2022 during a match against Toulouse.
The NO. 8 has rocked-up the Pumas hierarchy. Felipe Contepomi selected him for the recent test matches against South Africa and Australia. He made his debut as a replacement for Argentina against South Africa in Buenos Aires. This saw him becoming a second generation Puma as he followed in the foot-steps of the great Martín Scelzo.
Martín Scelzo played for a number of clubs. One of them was Clermont which recruited his son, Juan Martín Scelzo, as an academy player. Juan Martín Scelzo is now a Stade Français player until the 2028-29 season. This means his playing future is secured well beyond the completion of Rugby World Cup 2027.
Juan Martín Scelzo is competing for the right to be a second generation Rugby World Cup player. Martín Sclezo was a Bronze Medalist for Los Pumas at Rugby World Cup 2007 in France. Australia 2027 provides his son with the chance of also playing on the biggest stage in the sport of rugby. He is in competition with the likes of Facundo Isa, Joaquín Moro, Joaquín Oviedo, and Bautista Pedemonte as potential NO. 8 selections for the World Cup.
