Tomás Albornoz Hits Top Form for Toulon against European Champions

Tomás Albornoz hit top form for Toulon on Sunday. He scored two tries for Toulon who completed a 27-22 victory over Bordeaux in the latest round of the Top 14. The match was the first for Bordeaux in the Top 14 since the team won the European Champions Cup Final against Leinster.

Albornoz scored both of his tries in the first-half. The tries showed a strong understanding of how to read the opposition. His first was an interception while his second was a kick through the defense and a regather.

The match was only decided in the final play of the match. Albornoz was also involved as he won a high ball from which Toulon were able to control play and kick the ball out for the full-time whistle to be blown.

The result takes Toulon up to 59 competition points. With one round remaining it is insufficient for the team to book a spot in the play-offs. This means an earlier availability for international duty in compared to players who will feature in the play-offs.

Argentina face England, Scotland and Wales in home matches in July. They are a part of the inaugural Nations Championship tournament.
