Argentina defeated Fiji to claim Bronze at the Valladolid 7’s. Los Pumas 7’s had a mixed bag on the final day in Spain as they fell to South Africa at the Semi Final stage. South Africa went on to face Australia in the final in a losing effort.
Argentina recovered from the defeat against South Africa to bounce well well against Fiji. Marcos Moneta and Luciano Gonzalez worked in tandem in multiple tries in what was a 28-17 victory.
The win came despite a disastrous start for Los Pumas 7’s. Fiji scored from the kick-off with Apete Narogo touching down after just 15 seconds on the match clock.
The South Americans hit-back with a blitz to take control of the match. They ran in three quick-fire tries with Marcos Moneta, Luciano González and Pedro de Haro all scoring in the try zone.
Fiji found their feet in the second-half with Isaia Rugu and Jeremaia Matana scoring. Argentina then saw out victory with Luciano González and Marcos Moneta working their magic together.
