Mexico to host 2022 RAN Sevens

Mexico is to be the host country of the 2020 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Sevens. The Federación Mexicana de Rugby (FMRU) will host the three day tournament from February 11th to 13th in Mexico City.

The tournament will involve a variety of categories. Both Seniors and Juniors will feature as will both Men’s and Women’s teams. Moreover, the 2022 RAN 7’s  will double as qualifiers for the 2022 Centro Caribe Games in 2022, RWC Sevens and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Only full World Rugby members will qualify for the aforementioned tournaments. Canada’s Men await the winner from Mexico City to join them in the 2020 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Between now and the 2020 RAN Sevens, there will be additional competitions. The first of which is the upcoming 2021 RAN Men’s Sevens. The tournament will be played in Turks and Caicos in October 2021. January 2020 will see the RAN Beach 5s taking place at Florida’s Hollywood Beach on January 8th, 2022.
