Facundo Isa scores as Toulon advance to Challenge Cup Final

Facundo Isa scored for Toulon on Saturday. The rampaging ball-carrier from Santiago del Estero continued his fine form ahead of the Rugby Championship. His try helped Toulon to a Semi Final victory. The French Top 14 club defeated the Leicester Tigers 34-19. Toulon will face the Bristol Bears in the Challenge Cup Final.

The 27-year-old has 27 caps for Argentina. His most recent cap was in last year’s Rugby Championship. Mario Ledesma did not select him for RWC 2019. Ledesma took six back-rowers, all of whom were involved in Los Jaguares’ 2019 Super Rugby campaign.

The decision saw flanker Javier Ortega Desio playing N8 at the RWC. It ensured a strong line-out option at the back, though many decrease ball-carrying options. The Jaguares-first option coincided with Los Pumas’ worst RWC campaign since 2003.
