Exeter Chiefs sign Facundo Cordero from Argentina

The Exeter Chiefs have signed Facundo Cordero from Argentina. The club confirmed the signing of the player today on their website. As such he follows in the footsteps of his brother, Santiago Cordero who joined in 2018 from Los Jaguares and now plays in France for Bordeaux.

The 21-year-old is from Buenos Aires’ Club de Regatas Bella Vista. Earlier this year he joined Los Ceibos to play in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). He started on the wing in both SLAR matches before the season was suspended due to COVID-19. In the second, against Selknam, he scored two tries.

The Exeter Chiefs are Facundo Cordero’s first foreign club and his second foreign experience. In 2019 he played for the Jaguares XV in South Africa’s Currie Cup First Division. The Argentine side were undefeated for the season and Facundo Cordero was a try scorer in the final against the Griffons.

2019 was also a productive year for Facundo Cordero in representative colors. He received regular game time for the Argentina XV in the Americas Rugby Championship. His move to the UK sees both he and fellow 2019 Argentina XV winger, Julian Domínguez now playing professional rugby abroad.
