Ceibos Sign Jaguares XV duo

Argentina’s second professional rugby team, Ceibos, have signed a duo from Los Jaguares XV. Confirmed in joining captain Tomás Cubilla on the roster for the 2020 Súper Liga are hooker Pablo Dimcheff and second or back row Lucas Santa Cruz.

Dimcheff is just 20 years old and was a reserve for the Jaguares XV after starting all five matches for Los Pumitas at the World Rugby u20 Championship this year. Santa Cruz was called up to the Argentina XV this year, playing as a lock in the Americas Rugby Championship. He was used on the flank for the Jaguares XV. The 25-year-old has previously spent a season playing for Independiente in Spain.

Both men signed contracts together with the UAR due to the special case that is Los Ceibos. The team will play matches in Córdoba, giving Argentina’s interior direct access to professional rugby matches for the first time.

Dimcheff and Santa Cruz are products of Buenos Aires club Pucará. Their confirmations are set to be joined by others over the coming days. Names set to be unveiled are hooker Leonel Oveido; lock Franco Molina; flanker Courado Roura; center Agustín Segura; and winger Leopoldo Herrera.
