Former Puma Gabriel Ascárate is among new Olímpia players from Argentina. The Paraguayan professional team that will compete in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) thus far has seven players known.

Both Ascárate and Montero are long-time members of Argentina’s PladAR system. They are to be joined by further academy products. Of those known thus far are hooker Axel Zapata; tight head prop Facundo Maina; lock Federico Gutiérrez; and center Santiago Resino.

Ascárate has 18 caps for Argentina. They were spread over a lingually period from 2007-2016. Now aged 32 the center is into the twilight of his career.
