Peter Malcolm moves from Austin to San Diego

The San Diego Legion have made another splash on the free agent market ahead of the 2020 Major League Rugby season. Austin Elite hooker Peter Malcolm has signed on to play at Torero Stadium, following Dominic Day, Steffon Armitage, and Tira Patterson in joining the 2019 Finalists.

Malcolm, 25, won 11 caps at hooker for the USA between February 2017 and March 2018 before he was struck with a serious knee injury that knocked him out of the entirety of the 2018 MLR season. He returned to the pitch part-way through 2019, playing eight games for the Elite.

The Parkland, Florida, native‘s recovery has come too late for World Cup contention and Malcolm will now attempt to revive his international career with the Legion. San Diego have recently confirmed the extension of South African hooker Dean Muir and it’s unclear if fellow USA internationals Kapeli Pifeleti and Pat Blair will be returning in 2020.
