Sale Sharks sign Eagles trio Benson, James, and Howard

Sale Sharks have confirmed the signing of three Women’s Eagles for the 2021-22 Premier 15s season. Prop duo Catie Benson and Nick James are joined by flyhalf Katana Howard at the club.

Both Benson and James represented the USA at the 2017 World Cup. Despite being the younger of the two, the 29-year-old Benson made her test debut two years before James, 32, and now has 15 caps. The two started alongside each other in the November 2018 tour match against Ireland.

Howard is 28 years old and two years removed from her first cap against England at Chula Vista. For each of the three this will be their first overseas professional club. Other Eagles currently in England include Charli Jacoby at Loughborough, Alycia Washington at Worcester, Carly Waters at Saracens, and four players at Exeter – Kate Zackary, Rachel Johnson, Gabby Cantorna, and Jennine Duncan.
