The Seattle Seawolves have moved to shore up their front row stocks with the addition of hooker James Malcolm. He had been left adrift following the withdrawal of the Dallas Jackals but has now found a home on the West Coast. Malcolm will be considered a domestic player in 2021 due to the dispersal agreement.
A Scotland u20 international, Malcolm was called into the senior squad during the 2018 Six Nations Championship but did not make a test appearance. The 26-year-old began his professional career with Glasgow Warriors in 2014, later turning out for RFU Championship sides Doncaster and London Scottish.
Malcolm provides a boost at hooker following the sudden departure of incumbent starter Stephan Coetzee earlier this year. He will join Namibia international Obert Nortjé as primary options in the No2 shirt. Nortjé missed the opening round match against Houston with veteran backup Mike Shepherd in the run-on side and Louie Henson covering on the bench.
