LA to host Olympic warm-up tourney in June

Los Angeles will be hosting an international sevens tournament this year after all. Having been left off the shortened World Sevens Series announced earlier today, Southern California will instead welcome both men’s and women’s teams to Dignity Health Sports Park on the weekend of June 25.

The event is timely, coming just a month before the Tokyo Olympics, and will serve as a final competitive tune-up for participating teams. No specific details with regards to the number of teams invited have been released yet.

Both the Men’s and Women’s Eagles competed at a similar event in Madrid over the past two weekend. It was a return to competition following a year spent on the sidelines due to the pandemic. The Women pulled out of the final day of the two-weekend tournament due to COVID precautions.
