ARN Player of the Week – Marcos Moneta

This past weekend saw a full slate of European club action with the Premier 15s joining the Premiership, Top 14, and Pro D2. We also had the second weekend of the Madrid 7s, and were given a sneak-peak into Rugby ATL’s squad for the upcoming season with their Silver vs Black intra-squad match.

Perhaps the most notable performer from that contest was newcomer Bautista Ezcurra, the former Jaguares midfielder who lined up at flyhalf for the winning Silver side. ATL also have three strong candidates at No8 with Ross Deacon, Jason Damm, and Maciu Koroi all impressing.

Facundo Cordero scored a superb individual try for Exeter, while Matías Alemanno touched down for Gloucester. There were multiple standouts in the Premier 15s with Abby Duguid earning Player of the Match honors for Loughborough, Rachel Johnson grabbing a double for Exeter and Gabby Cantorna collecting 21 points against the Durham Sharks.

Our selection this week was mightily impressive for the unbeaten Argentina in Madrid. Marcos Moneta is just 20 years old but turned heads with ten tries scored over the weekend including a hat-trick against Kenya in a one-sided Cup Final. He was subsequently voted MVP of the tournament by Pumas supporters.
