100 Test Caps for Matías Alemanno

Matías Alemanno will earn his 100th test cap for Argentina on Saturday, July 04. El Cordobes reaches the milestone of 100 test caps for Argentina at home in Còrdoba against Scotland. The long-serving Puma is now a centurion in what is his twelve different year of representing Argentina at the highest level.

Alemanno made his test debut for Argentina in 2014. El Cordobés did so in an away test match against Uruguay at Paysandú. Eleven years on he has become the fifth Puma to reach the milestone of being a Pumas Centurion.

The illustrious club includes four players who all played alongside Alemanno. The first centurion was Agustín Creevy who earned his 100th cap captained Argentina at Rugby World Cup 2015, a tournament in which Los Pumas reached the Semi Finals and in which Alemanno was heavily involved.

The second centurion was Nicolás Sánchez. El Tucumano earned his 100th cap for Argentina at Rugby World Cup 2023. It was against Chile in Nantes and was a match which Alemanno was also involved in.

The third centurion was Pablo Matera. He earned his 100th cap at home against France in Buenos Aires in 2024. It was followed by Julián Montoya reaching the milestone against Australia in Santa Fé in the 2024 Rugby Championship.

Alemanno reaches the milestone of 100 test caps at the age of 34. The veteran has been playing professional rugby for Gloucester in the English Premiership since 2000. He was signed from Los Jaguares in Super Rugby by Gloucester Rugby in August 2020 and has joined Vannes for 2026-2028. He has been very patient as he was stuck in the 90’s throughout the Rugby World Cup 2023-2027 cycle.

Alemanno is the first Córdoba centurion. Another notable point is that he made his test debut together with Julián Montoya. The pairing were debutants in Argentina’s away test match against Uruguay in Paysandú in 2014.
