South American Tries Light Up Top 14

South American tries were on display this past weekend in France. Santiago Arata, Joaquín Oviedo, Jerónimo de la Fuente and Lucas Paulos were try scorers in round 18 of the Top 14. Others had try assists including wingers Mateo Carreras and Bautista Delguy for opposing teams.

The season has been one full of unpredictability. The race for play-off spots continues to heat-up. Bayonne find themselves in the uncustomary position of 4th behind Toulouse, Bordeaux and Toulon. 2023 Finalists La Rochelle sit in 9th position behind 2022 champions Montpellier who are 8th. Only two competition points separate the teams placed 6th to 10th.

Relegation is also very open. Pro D2 champions Vannes are bottom on 28 points. 2016 Top 14 Champions, Racing 92 are 12th and 2015 Top 14 Champions Stade Français are 11th. Following their loss to Bordeaux, Perpignan are in 13th.
