Capibaras name captains ahead of Super Rugby Americas debut

Super Rugby Americas (SRA) newcomers Los Capibaras have named captains ahead of their debut against Peñarol. Manuel Bernstein and Ignacio Gandini will be co-captains while Ignacio Dogliani will have the role of vice-captain.

Bernstein is a notable recruit for Los Capibaras’ inaugural season. The flanker from the CRAI club is back in the Litoral region after playing the past two SRA seasons for Los Pampas. The 25-year-old is also a former Cobras player and has played for both Argentina u20’s and the Argentina XV.

Gandini is also a former Pumita. He is a local from Duendes, which like CRAI, has produced big name Pumas. Gandini played for the Olímpia Lions (now rebranded as Yacare) and was captain of the team in 2022. He subsequently joined Los Dogos and was vice-captain.

Dogliani comes from Jockey Club de Rosario. He was named as vice-captain following impressive pre-season performances for the new SRA franchise. He takes up his role as a rookie in the South American professional league.
