Luciano Gonzalez has been recognized with the prestigious award of the best Rugby 7’s player in the world for the 2024-2025 season. González was one of four finalists for the award of 2024-2025 Player of the Year.
The 28-year-old from Rioja in La Rioja Province went beyond the career mark of 150 tries on the SVNS Circuit. His 150th try was scored at the 2025 Vancouver 7’s. Argentina were crowned champions of the tournament in Canada and González was named Player of the Final.
González came in in 3rd overall for line-breaks this season. In addition, Gonzalez contributed more offloads, tackles, and steals than any other Argentine. His securing of the Player of the Final award in Vancouver was not unique; in fact, González has three Player of the Final awards from his last nine SVNS tournaments.
