Old Glory reveal Simon Cross as new Head Coach

Old Glory DC have wasted no time in naming their new Head Coach. After bidding a fond farewell to Josh Syms, who will join Zebre as a Forwards Coach, the club have unveiled Simon Cross as his replacement. The 42-year-old arrives on a three-year deal through the 2026 Major League Rugby season.

Cross played professionally as a flanker with Edinburgh until being forced into early retirement at the age of 29 due to injury. He represented Scotland at under-20 level and also on the World Sevens Series, and was included in several senior training squads though he never won a full test cap.

An immediate move into full-time coaching followed and Cross spent five years with Worcester Warriors as a defense and breakdown specialist. He joined Welsh side Dragons as Defense Coach in 2019 and has held the same role since. This will be his first professional role as Head Coach, though he had a one-year stint in charge of semi-pro side Birmingham Moseley while still on the books for Worcester.

Syms departs Old Glory after just one year in charge. The New Zealander led the side to their first ever playoff appearance, and first ever postseason victory, just one year after DC finished at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table.
