Canada’s Senior Men’s summer tour remains a mystery

World Rugby have unveiled the full list of summer internationals along with match official appointments. While almost all of the teams listed are preparing for September’s World Cup, the USA are included after securing three European opponents in August. Canada, however, are conspicuously absent.

A tour to the South Pacific to play Tonga and two unrevealed teams appears to have been cancelled, with Ikale Tahi coach Toutai Kefu confirming that they are now in search of a new opponent. At least one more test was said to be in the plans for Canada and possibly a match against a Super Rugby side.

When asked, Rugby Canada did not comment on the status of the Pacific tour but did suggest that a tour of some kind was still in the works. “We have been in discussions with several options for summer tour fixtures, and will make an announcement once plans are finalized.”
