The Utah Warriors have secured one more returning player ahead of the 2023 Major League Rugby season. USA international Calvin Whiting will play a fourth season with the club. The announcement comes just over two weeks since the Warriors announced their squad for the new campaign.
Whiting initially signed on with Utah in 2019 but did not make any appearances that season. He started every game in 2020 and has been an ever-present in the side since. A versatile player who is comfortable at either center position or flyhalf, the 27-year-old South Africa is also a left-footed goal-kicker.
Midfield options are now plentiful for the Warriors with Whiting joining fellow Eagle Paul Lasike, former South Africa u20 rep Tyler Fisher, and High School All-American duo Tomasi Tonga and Siaosi Nauer in returning. Eagles cap Mika Kruse and USA Sevens international Logan Tago can play center or wing.
