Cross-Border featuring Paraguay, Brazil, Córdoba and Tucumán set for November

A cross-border competition will take place in South America in November. The four teams taking to the field will be Paraguay, Brazil, and the Argentine provinces Córdoba and Tucumán. The matches will all be uncapped with Brazil and Paraguay playing as the Brazil XV and Paraguay XV respectively.

The tournament will take place in the Paraguayan capital of Asunción. All matches will be played at the Estadio Heroes de Curupayti. The venue is the home of Paraguayan rugby. It regularly hosts Paraguay’s home games and tournaments of all kinds including SLAR.

The matches will be played on three match days. The first will be Saturday, November 19. Paraguay XV will face Córdoba and the Brazil XV will take-on Tucumán. The second match day will be four days later while the third will be on Saturday, November 26. The final fixture will be the uncapped match between the Paraguay XV and the Brazil XV.

The inclusion of Córdoba and Tucumán is not by coincidence. Advanced plans are for expansion in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby. ARN has learned that both Argentine provinces are expected to have professional teams in the new Super Rugby Americas.
