Utah acquires Arrows and Canada hooker Andrew Quattrin

One of Toronto’s longest-serving players will make the move to Utah for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The Warriors have acquired Canadian international Andrew Quattrin from the Arrows in exchange for an import slot. He fills an immediate gap at hooker left by the retirement of Chad Gough.

Quattrin has been with the Arrows since their inception, and is a product of the highly successful Ontario Blues provincial program. The 25-year-old appeared in 48 of Toronto’s 54 MLR games to date, including 41 starts. He played all 16 games this past season, memorably scoring the winning try in the road win over eventual champions New York.

On the international stage Quattrin has been a regular in the Canada lineup since debuting in July of 2019. He recently won his 14th cap in the win over Belgium. Quattrin joins fellow Canadian and Ontario export Emerson Prior in the Warriors front row stable.

The import slot acquired by the Arrows allows them to field 8 non-domestic players in the 2023 season. They traded three of their allotted 10 match day import slots at the end of the 2022 campaign in exchange for salary cap space, with one each going to Dallas, New England, and New York.
