Real Possibility of Chile vs Scotland in 2022

The possibility has emerged of Chile playing host to Scotland in 2022. Scotland are already confirmed to tour Argentina for test matches in Jujuy, Salta and Santiago del Estero in July. The matches will take place on July 02, 09 and 16 respectively.

Chile will be playing home-and-away test matches against the USA in July. They are to determine who qualifies for Rugby World Cup 2023 as Americas 2. After Chile’s heroics against Canada in 2021, the landscape has changed with Canada presently having no fixtures confirmed for July 2022.

Local specialists Rugby Chile have reported of rumors that Chile may be added as a stop to Scotland’s mid-year tour to South America. It would be placed before Chile’s matches against the USA. The United Rugby Championship (URC) is scheduled to conclude on the weekend of June 24. As such, the possible Chile vs Scotland match would fall on the same weekend.

Scotland’s roster for the 2022 Six Nations contains 24 players from Scottish URC teams Edinburgh and the Glasgow Warriors. 17 players play their rugby either elsewhere in the UK or in France.
