Third season in San Diego for Ben Mitchell

As expected the San Diego Legion have confirmed that second row Ben Mitchell will return for a third season with the club. The 27-year-old recently made his international debut with the USA Select XV in the Americas Pacific Challenge and is now aiming for full test honors.

Mitchell made the switch to San Diego after two years in Austin, the second of which he was team captain. During the 2021 season he made 10 starts to bring his total to 37 Major League Rugby appearances.

Standing 6’7″ (2.01m), Mitchell has been among the league’s best lineout operators over the past four years. With the 6’9″ (2.05m) Ben Grant arriving from Australia, the Legion will feature one of the tallest second room pairings in MLR this season.
