Emiliano Bergamaschi Appointed Head Coach of Zebre

Emiliano Bergamaschi has been appointed Head Coach of Zebre Parma. The Argentine will be in charge of the Italian team for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season. Zebre Parma play in the United Rugby Championship (URC) and the European Challenge Cup.

The club made the announcement earlier today. The contract runs until the end of the season but has the option of an extension. He will joined by Fabio Roselli in the staff.

Bergamaschi has great rugby pedigree both as a player and as a coach. He played as a professional in England beginning in 2002 for the Bristol Bears. He also played in England for Saracens and in France for Rouen. He was selected for his country and played in one official test match, facing the USA in 2001.

In 2008 Bergamaschi turned to coaching. He was an assistant coach to Daniel Hourcade with Los Pumas at RWC 2015. In the 2020 SLAR he was an assistant to Raúl Pérez at the Olímpia Lions. In 2021 he was the head coach of Os Cobras, Brazil’s team in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR).

Zebre are not having an impressive URC season. The Italians are winless after six matches this season.
