Canada Senior Women return with West Camp

After more than a year and a half of waiting, some of Canada’s top senior women’s players will convene in Victoria from July 8 to 11. A squad of 36 players based in Western Canada has been named, with an Eastern camp set for July 15 to 18 in Montreal.

Included are three forwards who competed in the Premier 15s this past season. Saracens back row Sophie de Goede and Loughborough Lightning locks Abby Duguid and Courtney Holtkamp. The latter returned to Canada part-way through the season.

Returning members of the 2017 World Cup side are hooker Laura Russell, second row Tyson Beukeboom, and flyhalf Emily Belchos. The camp is being used to re-start preparations for the the postponed Rugby World Cup 2021 that will now be played in October 2022.
