Juan Martín González joins Pumas for July Internationals

Juan Martín González will join Los Pumas for the July Internationals. The uncapped flanker will do so to replace Tomás Lezana who continues to nurse a knee injury suffered while playing for the Western Force.

The 20-year-old González is one of Argentina’s bright emerging talents. He was a stand-out performer in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Los Jaguares XV. In 2020 he was on the roster for the Tri Nations in Australia.

González is added to the roster as cover for Tomás Lezana; yet, former captain Pablo Matera is also in doubt. The roster also contains Rodrigo Bruni (Vannes), Francisco Gorrissen (Jaguares XV), Facundo Isa (Toulon), and Marcos Kremer (Stade Français).

Los Pumas will play a rare three-match tour of Europe in July. The South Americans will begin with their first visit to Romania in 29 years. It will be a test match in Bucharest on July 03. Two matches will follow against Wales in Cardiff.

González is a product of Marista in Mendoza. He scored seven tries in SLAR, the most by any forward and the third most overall.
