Paddy Ryan to return to San Diego Legion

Paddy Ryan will soon return to Major League Rugby. The Australian international, not to be confused for the AG’s prop of the same name, has re-signed with the San Diego Legion and will join up with the team following his commitments in Japan with the Sanix Blues.

After joining the Legion for the 2019 campaign from the Waratahs, Ryan proved to be one of the best forwards in MLR. He played all 18 games, starting 16, and led the team to a Championship Final appearance though they ultimately lost to the Seawolves on the final play.

Ryan should immediately slot in at the No3 shirt on arrival, allowing Cronan Gleeson to help cover the loosehead side. Gleeson has shared time at tighthead thus far with former Eagles regular Chris Baumann and fourth-year Legion member Aaron Mitchell.

Sanix will play their final pool stage match of the Top League season this weekend that will determine their ranking for the knock-out stage. At the moment they are second-last in the Red Conference and barring a rapid turn-around in form are unlikely to advance beyond the April 24th weekend.
