NOLA confirm departure of Scott Gale and Con Foley

NOLA fans will not get to see Scott Gale or Con Foley in the Gold jersey this season. While they had previously signed through the 2022 Major League Rugby season, the club has confirmed that both have now returned to Australia for personal reasons.

The decisions do not come as a surprise for the Gold, who were informed of their intentions several months ago. Several players have arrived in the off-season to fill the gaps including scrumhalf Damian Stevens, flyhalf Timothée Guillimin, and midfielders JP du Plessis, Juan Cappiello, and Gabe Farley.

Nonetheless the departures are notable. Both have been ever-present for the Gold since the arrivals in 2019. Gale excelled at both scrumhalf and flyhalf while Foley had cemented the No12 shirt and was also vice-captain in 2020. The club have not ruled out a potential return for either in the future.
