Eliás’ two penalties both came in the first half. They followed Ruiz’ tries and fell other side of a score from Martín Canelliere. The fullback’s score was the pick of the opening half from an Argentine perspective. However, it was the try from his opposite, José Iruleguy, which impressed the most.

The Argentina XV’ held a 20-5 halftime lead. Matías Osadczuk ended any talk of a home team comeback. The Los Pumas 7’s flier used his speed to get over. The 41st minute try was followed by two more Argentine tries before the Uruguayans could add to their tally.
