New Miami team enters World Tens Series

Three more teams have been confirmed for the upcoming World Tens Series taking place in Bermuda. Previously announced Ohio Aviators and SX10 will be joined by the Asia Pacific Dragons, London Royals, and an entirely new American side – the Miami Sun.

Little is know about the Miami side at this point. Rumors of a potential Major League Rugby team in the city have been ongoing for several months but it’s not clear if this group has any connection. The brief media release only adds that the team will soon be naming a “world-renowned Head Coach.”

London Royals are also a new creation but will feature familiar faces. As England’s men’s sevens team faces the axe due to funding cuts, some of their top players have already confirmed their place with the Royals such as captain Tom Mitchell and regulars Alex Davis and Tom Bowen.

The Dragons are an established brand that have competed in numerous tournaments around the world including Global Rapid Rugby. They will be coached by former Wallaby and current Tonga coach Toutai Kefu with current MLR talent Apisai Naikatini and Osea Kolinisau among those lined up to play.

Three further teams are to be revealed for the Series which is set to begin in late October.
