COVID-19 hits Pumas backs

The Unión de Rugby Argentina has confirmed a latest outbreak of COVID-19. The results have seen members of the staff and players testing positive.

Coaches Mario Ledesma, Nicolás Fernández Miranda, and Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe tested positive. More alarming is the new cases among the players; specifically backs. Scrum-halves Tomás Cubelli and Felipe Ezcurra; centers Matías Moroni, and Matías Orlando; and winger Mateo Carreras have all tests positive. All have entered isolation.

The latest positive tests are the fourth overall. It follows the previous wave wherein second-rowers Rodrigo Fernández Criado and Lucas Bur; N8 Bautista Pedemonte; center Juan Cruz Mallía; wingers Emiliano Boffelli and Bautista Delguy tested positive.

Prior to that N8 Javier Ortega Desio tested positive, sparking testing for all players and staff. The outcome was positive tests for five players. They were prop Federico Wegrzyn; hooker José Luis González; flanker Tomás Lezana; and fullback Santiago Carreras. Staff Marcelo Loffreda and Martín Mackey also tested positive.
