Taylor Paris stays in France, signs with Oyonnax

Taylor Paris is no longer a free agent. The Canadian flyer has put pen-to-paper with Oyonnax on a one year deal with a second as an option. In doing so he stays in France, albeit in Pro D2 after leaving Top 14 club Castres Olympique in May.

The 27-year-old Barrie native first arrived in France in 2013 with Agen after a brief spell with Glasgow Warriors. Paris spent three seasons there before moving to the opposite side of Toulouse to Castres. He now leaves the south-west for the east, to the club which previously employed Jamie Cudmore.

Unveiled at the same time is new signing Scotland international Luke Hamilton. The club has further ties to the Americas with Uruguayan lock Manuel Leindekar a regular starter and Canada u20 prop Mehdi Porchet in the academy program.

Oyonnax are considered one of the top clubs in the Pro D2 having played in the Top 14 just two seasons ago. They were in 4th place on the table at the time of the season’s suspension and should be contenders for promotion this coming season.
