Free Jacks sign college duo Brusati and Miller

The New England Free Jacks have signed a pair of new college graduates for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. St. Mary’s Gaels scrumhalf Tom Brusati and Colorado Buffaloes flanker Jack Miller join as free agents following the inaugural Collegiate Draft.

Brusati is the third Gaels No9 to sign on for MLR following NOLA’s Holden Yungert and Colorado’s Sean Yacoubian. The 23-year-old from San Rafael, California, will move to the East Coast for his first professional contract after steering St. Mary’s to an undefeated campaign this past season.

Junior All-American openside Miller, 22, returns to his native Boston having also played for the Glendale academy side while in Colorado. He represented the USA against Canada in the 2017 World Rugby u20 Trophy qualifiers. Miller began playing rugby in Hong Kong and also played for the London Scottish amateur division side.

New England used their two draft picks to select Life University flanker Justin Johnson and Ohio State prop Spencer Krueger. Brusati’s St. Mary’s teammates Derek Ellingson and Aaron Matthews were chosen by the Utah Warriors and Seattle Seawolves respectively.
