Full Match – Canada vs Fiji 2013

Canada played host to Fiji in the 2013 Pacific Nations Cup. The match took place at Twin Elm Rugby Park in Ottawa, Ontario and those in attendance were treated to some quality rugby.

The 2013 Pacific Nations Cup was a Five Nations tournament. Involved were Canada, USA, Japan, Fiji and Tonga. The competition was round-robin, featuring a total of ten fixtures. Canada played on home soil against the USA, Fiji and Tonga and away to Japan.

Canada’s match against Fiji was the second for both teams in the Pacific Nations Cup. It was a competitive match featuring five tries in all, including a memorable score to Ray Barkwill. The try was crucial to the final outcome of the game.

Remarkably, the match was played three days before Canada faced Tonga and four days after Fiji played host to Japan. Such an arrangement of fixtures is a testament to just how well organized the Americas Rugby Championship truly is.

Samoa did not participate due to the Pacific Islanders playing in another tournament at the same time – a quadrangular competition in South Africa featuring the Springboks, Italy and Scotland. That tournament was arranged to fill the hole of the British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia.
