Double Injury Setback for Jaguares Centers

Twelve days out from Los Jaguares’ first pre-season match against the Georgia XV, Gonzalo Quesada has suffered a double injury setback to centers. Two players are set to be ruled out of the first match and their involvement in the second, on January 24, also requires confirmation.

The 2019 starting outside center, Matías Orlando has suffered a bicep injury and will be out for two to three weeks. He will thereby be fit for consideration for Los Jaguares’ Super Rugby season opener against the Lions on Saturday, February 01.

Set to miss out on the season opener is rookie Juan Pablo Castro. He suffered a broken finger and will undergo injury over the coming days. He will require a recovery period of six weeks meaning he will only be considered for Los Jaguares for their round four match against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday, February 22.

The natural position of both Orlando and Castro is outside center. Los Jaguares have two further specialists in the position – Matías Moroni, and Juan Cruz Mallía. Both men were a part of Argentina’s RWC 2019 roster with Mallía being a stand-out in his one match, wherein he started in the position against the USA. Moroni had three starts, all of which were on the right wing.
