Canada lock Conor Keys joins Rugby ATL

Rugby ATL will have at least two Canadians running out in their forward pack in their inaugural season. The Major League Rugby expansion side has signed lock Conor Keys for the 2020 campaign, joining World Cup teammate Matt Heaton in Atlanta.

At 1.99m (6’6″), Keys was the tallest player in Canada’s RWC squad. The 23-year-old joins ATL from Rotherham Titans where he spent the past season in National One, the third division of English rugby. He started two matches for the Maple Leafs in Japan bringing his total to 18 caps since making his test debut in February 2017.

Though their official media releases have been sluggish, ATL has quietly put together a young but talented squad for their first foray into professional rugby. Eagles front rowers Chance Wenglewski and Alex Maughan give the side more international experience up front with a number of promising outside backs including MLR’s all-time try-scoring leader Harley Davidson.
