Save Totovosau re-signs for San Diego

The San Diego Legion have announced the return of Save Totovosau for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. It’s the 14th extension of the off-season, the big Fijian winger the latest in a string of backline players re-upping for the 2019 Finalists.

Arriving from Australia ahead of this past season, Totovosau played nine matches for the club, starting five. He scored six tries while appearing exclusively on the right wing. At 23 years old the 6’2″ (1.89m) finisher still has his best years ahead of him. He will be joined at the club by Fiji u20 standout Tira Patterson next season.

Meanwhile the Legion have also confirmed the return of Olympic Gold Medalist Jasa Veremalua for 2020, though it’s not clear if this is a further extension or merely confirmation of the two-year deal he signed ahead of 2019. The 31-year-old switched from the backs to the forwards mid-season.

Veremalua started in 16 games for the club in 2019, remarkably featuring as a winger, outside center, lock, and blindside flanker. He is set to continue his permanent change to the forwards in 2020.
