Nate Augspurger extends San Diego contract

US Eagles scrumhalf Nate Augspurger has extended his contract with the San Diego Legion. The 29-year-old Minnesotan joined the Major League Rugby side from Old Blue in New York ahead of the inaugural 2018 campaign. Specific terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Augspurger made his international debut for the USA Sevens side at Dubai in November 2012. He appeared in 15 tournament on the World Sevens Series and won Bronze at the 2015 Pan Am Games before making a full-time commitment to the XV-a-side game.

His test debut came in June 2016 against Italy and since then Augspurger has won 23 caps for the Eagles, 17 of them starts. Known for his rapid acceleration and stepping ability, he is equally comfortable on the wing and has split his time at international level between the two positions.

This past season Augspurger played the first four games on the wing but switched to scrumhalf when Nick Boyer was called up by Gary Gold. Augspurger started every game following in the No9 shirt and earned selection to the Eagles training squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
