Notable Additions in Argentina Roster For South Africa

Notable additions have been made in Argentina’s roster for South Africa. Los Pumas will play host to the Springboks in Salta on Saturday, August 10. The round three Rugby Championship fixture is a final round match due to the reduced schedule because of 2019 being a RWC year.

Back from South Africa for the match is Gonzalo Bertranou. Having been Mario Ledesma’s starting scrum half in 2018, Bertranou was set for a significant year in 2019. However an injury after just one match in Super Rugby this year has seen him in a long reverie regime which included playing in the Currie Cup First Division.

Also back from injury is Benjamín Urdapilleta, a player never selected by Daniel Hourcade. His impressive seasons with Castres have seen him at last rewarded and he is set to play his first test match since 2013. He replaces Joaquín Díaz Bonilla to join Nicolás Sánchez as the fly half options.

Left out of the match is first choice outside center Matías Orlando. No player has been called-in to replace him. Instead the options for his position come from players who were also on the roster for the round two match against Australia – Matías Moroni, and the uncapped Lucas Mensa.

Dropped from the roster is Ramiro Herrera who was a replacement against Australia. With the scrum suffering following the substitution of Juan Figallo a change has seen Enrique Pieretto joining Figallo, and Santiago Medrano as the tight head options.

Returning to the roster is Agustín Creevy who missed out on facing Australia due to injury. Both he and Julián Montoya are presently being monitored for minor injuries ahead of the match against South Africa.
