Bursic extends New Orleans contract

Nikola Bursic is the newest member of the NOLA Gold to put pen-to-paper on a contract extension. The Chilean powerhouse has inked a new two-year deal with the club, securing his services in New Orleans through the 2021 Major League Rugby season.

The 25-year-old has become a fan favorite in his two seasons with the Gold, notching 18 regular season appearances, 17 of them starts. While his preferred position is No8, Bursic has played across the second and back rows for NOLA including a rare start at openside flanker this past season.

Born in Torrance, California, Bursic grew up in Santiago, Chile, and has won 30 caps for Los Cóndores since his debut in 2013. His most recent international appearance was against the New Zealand Māori in November. Injury and club commitments saw Bursic miss out on the Americas Rugby Championship and Sudamérica 6 Naciones earlier this year.

Bursic is the third player to extend their stay with NOLA over the past few days. He follows outside center Tristan Blewett and club captain Eric Howard.
