Jaguares qualify for Play-Offs

Los Jaguares have qualified for the Super Rugby play-off’s. The Argentine Super Rugby franchise reached the final eight with two rounds remaining due to winning against the Reds earlier today, and the Lions defeating the Stormers.

In securing a place in the Quarter Finals Los Jaguares will compete in the play-off’s in back-to-back Super Rugby seasons. In 2018 Mario Ledesma coached the team to the Quarter Finals where they fell to the Lions.

This time around the team will have the opportunity of not only playing in the play-off’s but also potentially having home advantage. The Gonzalo Quesada coached side is on form, having beaten the Hurricanes in Wellington, Waratahs in Sydney, and Reds in Brisbane.

In the two remaining matches of the regular season Los Jaguares will play at home. Visiting Buenos Aires over the two coming weekends will be the Sharks, and Sunwolves.

Los Jaguares go into the home stretch with 41 competition points, the most of all teams in the South African conference. They are followed by the Lions with 35, Bulls with 34, Sharks with 33, and the Stormers with 30.

With five additional competition points Los Jaguares are guaranteed to finish top of the South African conference. While in terms of the overall standings Los Jaguares are 3rd behind New Zealand sides the Crusaders (53), and the Hurricanes (44). The Brumbies are the next best with 39 points.

Based on the present standings Los Jaguares are positioned to finish second overall to thereby have a home Quarter Final, and Semi Final. Wins in these knock-out matches would see them facing the Crusaders in Christchurch, New Zealand should both teams reach the Final.
