Americas Rankings – May 05 2019

The Americas Rankings for May 05 2019 have been calculated based on the results of two recent internationals. These matches were split over two weekends with the match dates being April 27, and May 04.

On April 27 Guyana played host to Guadeloupe. The match was a winner-takes-all fixture to determine who will advance to face Bermuda in the 2019 Rugby Americas North (RAN) Championship Final. Guadeloupe’s 19-5 upset victory saw them sealing the spot.

The Green Machine went into the match with 42.40 rankings points, far more than that of Guadeloupe’s 30.71. The result of the match sees Guyana falling to 40.40 points and Guadeloupe rising to 32.71 points. This sees Guadeloupe jumping above Martinique, and St. Lucia to now be ranked 22nd in the Americas while Guyana trade places with Venezuela.

In this weekend’s international the British Virgin Islands fell to a 31-12 home defeat against the Turks & Caicos Islands. The result sees Turks & Caicos claiming the maximum points in the rankings exchange. The updated rankings see the British Virgin Islands falling from 29.48 to 28.23 points, and the Turks & Caicos rising from 34.18 to 35.42 points.

The calculations see the Turks & Caicos Islands moving up one spot above Barbados to now be ranked 18th in the Americas. The British Virgin Islands fall two spots from 34th to 36th to drop below Nicaragua  and the Dominican Republic.
