Pro D2 – Week 8 Preview

The contenders are starting to slip away from the pack as the French Pro D2 enters its 8th week of the regular season. Already played on Thursday evening was a match between the two top teams. It was Nevers who got the 24-17 win at home over Mont-de-Marsan. Carlos Muzzio and Leandro Cedaro started for the visitors at loosehead prop and No8 respectively, with scrumhalf Agustín Ormaechea coming in off the bench.

Six games will take place this afternoon. A mid-table clash between Charente and Vannes will see four Americas players take part. Chilean lock Pablo Huete starts for the SA XV with Argentine prop Joël Sclavi on the bench. USA prop Eric Fry is a reserve for visiting Vannes, as is second row Javier Lagioiosa.

Sebastián Poet starts at flyhalf for Colomiers against Béziers. Fellow Pumas international Martín Chiappesoni is on the bench. Meanwhile Damian Arias is a reserve prop for Bressane for their road game against Montauban.

Elsewhere the numbers are thin with no Americas players in the three matches and the rosters for Sunday’s game still to be revealed. Leandro Assi is likely to feature in the Provence match day squad against Oyonnax.
