Guatemala Defeat Costa Rica

Playing at home Guatemala defeated Costa Rica to home the 2018 Sudamérica 4 Naciones B. The match saw the 20th ranked side in the Americas playing at home against the 22nd ranked side. Guatemala’s 18-12 victory will see rankings points exchanged in their favor.

Today’s fixture kicked-off the tier 2 level competition of Sudamérica Rugby. The tournament was to be a Four Nations competition but is, instead, a Tri Nations event due to Venezuela being unable to compete.

In the tournament opener Guatemala led throughout. Los Jaguares scored all of the first half points to hold an 8-0 advantage at half time.

In the second half Guatemala extended the lead with a penalty before Costa Rica hit back. The Guatemalans then scored a try to take their tally to 18 points. A late try from Los Ticos saw Costa Rica finishing within a try.

Guatemala now have five rest days before playing again. They take-on Peru on Saturday October 06. Before then the Peruvians are to face Costa Rica. The Wednesday fixture will be highly demanding for Los Ticos following today’s fixture.
