Perry Baker up for World 7s Player of the Year

USA Sevens star Perry Baker is one of three players nominated for the World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Year award. The 30-year-old flyer enjoyed a sensational season on the HSBC Sevens Series, doubling as the overall leader in both tries and points scored.

Baker also made the tournament Dream Team in VancouverHong KongSingapore, and London. His ever-improving vision and aerial skills have enhanced his status as one of the world’s most popular players in the shortened game.

While Baker may have a strong case to become the USA’s first winner of the award, he is up against stiff competition in outstanding playmakers Jerry Tuwai of Fiji and South Africa’s Rosko Specman. The latter played a major role in the Blitzbokke’s marvelous form that saw them outclass all opposition en route to the overall 2016-17 HSBC Sevens Series title. All three players were named in the official World Rugby Dream Team for the 2016-17 season.

The winner will be revealed at the World Rugby Awards dinner in Monte Carlo on November 26.
