Americas Players in Top 14 – Week 4

Week 4 of the 2016-17 Top 14 season will see matches played on Saturday and Sunday in France. The competition features world class athletes from around the globe. Included are players from the Americas. This season’s edition is to continue with the importance of Americas players. Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and the USA are all represented.

Kicking-off Week 4 will be Stade Français vs Castres in Paris. The clubs enter the match positioned in 6th and 8th respectively. In charge of the home side is Argentine Gonzalo Quesada. His team is expected to win at home. Looking to lead Castres to victory is Rodrigo Capó Ortega. The Uruguayan will play second-row and will be joined by Argentine Benjamin Urdapilleta in the starting lineup.

The underfire Montpellier simply must win this weekend. Sitting in 12th they host the 9th placed Pau. Starting for the visitors will be Steffon Armitage. The former England international is from the Americas, Trinidad & Tobago to be exact.

Having completed a shock away win over Castres in Week 3 La Rochelle go into Week 4 looking strong for back-to-back wins. Their opponents are Lyon, last season’s second division champions. Playing second-row for La Rochelle will be Argentine Leandro Cedaro. He is capped by Italy while Francisco Gomez Kodela is a former Puma. Goméz Kodela will play from the bench for Lyon.

13th will host 10th with Bordeaux welcoming Bayonne on Saturday evening. A powerful Bordeaux lineup has been named as they look to rise out of the relegation zone. Starting at fullback for Bayonne will be former Puma Martín Bustos Moyano.

Saturday’s final fixture will see the giants of Clermont and Racing 92 locking horns. The prospect of it being a classic are low, however, with Racing 92 having left out a host of stars including Rosario Pumas Manuel Carizza and Juan Imhoff. A third player from Argentina’s third largest city, Patricio Fernández, will feature. Fernández has been named on the Clermont bench.

Week 4 will conclude on Sunday. Grenoble will play host to Brive and Toulouse will do so against the struggling Toulon.

Lineups for Sunday’s fixtures are due to be posted on Saturday afternoon. This page will be updated once teams are confirmed.
