Free Jacks retain Canadian lock Josh Larsen for second season

The New England Free Jacks have confirmed the return of Josh Larsen for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. A member of Canada’s team at Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, the 26-year-old enters the second year of his contract after signing from Austin in 2019.

Larsen captained the team during their inaugural MLR campaign. He started all five games on the right side of the engine room, playing every minute aside from a 10-minute spell in the sin bin during the season opener against Rugby United New York. The 6’5″ (1.96) lock also bagged two tries.

New England now have four second rows secured for next season, all returnees. Larsen follows the prior announcements of Jackson Thiebes, Ronan McCusker, and Conor Kindregan. The potential return of US Eagles international Ben Landry, a late arrival in 2020, is still to be confirmed.
